Choose Compassion

Where does evil and sin come into play in our lives? It can be comfortable believing that only love is real and from a higher dimensional perspective that is true. However, for anyone living on earth the existence of evil is a reality. How should we define evil? Is it necessary to define it? Should we live in fear of others doing us evil or that we may choose evil?
For ourselves the choice is simple, attempt to make life decisions guided by love and forgive ourselves when we find ourselves acting from fear.
So let’s analyze when we perceive that someone is doing us evil. This is part of free will on earth and it will be the rare person who does not suffer from others’ thoughts and actions during their lifetime. So what to do? Turn the other cheek? What if we’ve turned it 100 times? Is there a limit? Does “setting limits” come into play?
It’s important to understand that much of Jesus’ teachings were aimed at ending the cycle of “an eye for an eye” justice that permeated the world at that time. Where there is no forgiveness, karmic cycles are bound to repeat endlessly.
So when you sense that someone is doing wrong, perhaps start by looking at what you yourself haven’t forgiven. Can you forgive others’ lack of consciousness as being the right response for them from their perspective? Can you accept that compassion is the manner in which you take the higher road? Are you able to put yourself in the other people’s shoes and see the conflict from their perspective? How does that change things?
It may also be useful to look at what unconscious energies of your own are attracting these situations. Internal conflict will often attract outer conflict. Remember that what you perceive in others is often a reflection of ourselves, even if we’re not conscious of that being reflected. This can be very difficult to accept but the path of personal mastery asks us to be brave as we embrace our own darkness rather than pretending it doesn’t exist.
On the path to higher consciousness there will be parts of ourselves that don’t want to evolve, that are comfortable living in fear as it provides a sense of realness to that which is truth is not real.
Ask God for assistance so that you may see what lies within yourself before blaming others for your misfortunes.
