Sterile Religions

Why have religions become sterile? What sort of people are attracted to be spiritual priests and ministers? Most go into seminary or religious studies at a young age but this type of training is about learning what has come before, learning about that which is dead and not really focused on the now, new teachings, the religion which is alive.
The universe has gifted us with many texts written by modern authors: Eckhart Tolle, Joe Dispenza, Neale Donald Walsch, Deepak Chopra, Louise Hay and many more. These are the signposts for us, not texts written thousands of years ago for a different time and a different audience.
Meditation is the practice whereby we still the mind and allow ourselves to connect with the infinite, the divine. All of these modern authors emphasize mindfulness or meditation to one extent or another. Why? Because modern minds have become corrupted by the overly mental evolution mankind has gone through. Only by stilling the mind are we capable of receiving higher inspiration.
The origin of the word inspire comes from latin, in spirare, bring in the breath or the spirit. So when we are inspired we are living from spirit. And this really should be the goal of any spiritual seeker - to become closer to spirit - to become infused with light, love, joy, glory, abundance and all the other good things that we associate with God.
And here I want to highlight breathwork, the conscious placing of our attention on our breathing. This may serve two
functions, one it is the easiest and most practical way to become present, to take our mental activity away from the mind and to place it upon the simple act of bringing air into our body and then letting it go. But there is also a more subtle aspect to breathwork - every time we consciously inspire we are inviting spirit into our being = we are asking spirit to fill us up, to bring us life.
And if we so choose we can program our breath in this way asking spirit to equate inhalation with inspiration. And it this way whenever we become conscious of breathing we become conscious of inspiring or “in spiriting”. Setting an intention to live “inspired” is a sure fire way to deepen our relationship with spirit.
